Location: San Antonio, TX

John served with distinction at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam’s Security Department from for eight years. As an Explosive Detector Dog, John was entrusted to seven different handlers, playing a crucial role in various operations. His dedication was evident as he performed over 2,000 antiterrorism checks, safeguarded 62 high-profile missions, and protected 107,000 military and civilian personnel.

John’s bravery shone through during a bomb threat at Bravo Pier and in secondary sweeps for an active shooter response. His exceptional service earned him high praise and reflected positively on the Military Working Dog Program.

To his longest-serving handler Michael, John was more than a protector; he was a beacon of positivity and comfort during tough times. Together, they safeguarded dignitaries, including the President and First Lady.

Now retired for seven months, John enjoys a peaceful life with his new family. Despite his age, he retains the lively spirit of a puppy, spending his days lounging with his favorite toy.
