Layla — Law Enforcement and First Responder

Layla, a remarkable K9, was trained to be a Detection K9 with her dedicated handler, Spence, and together, they formed a dynamic team, tackling critical missions to protect children. Spence and Layla travel across Indiana and beyond, executing search warrants for the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) division and other police departments. Layla’s special training allows her to locate hidden electronic devices—whether they’re SD cards, cell phones, hard drives, or cameras—no matter how cleverly concealed.

Layla’s extraordinary skills help uncover evidence of child exploitation that might otherwise remain hidden. Her nose can detect devices buried underground, submerged in water, or frozen in ice. Beyond her life-saving work, Layla also plays a vital role in training over 165 other K9s.

She’s more than a diligent worker; she’s a loving companion who enjoys belly rubs and fetch. Layla and Spence are making the world a safer place, one sniff at a time. For her unwavering dedication, Layla truly deserves recognition as a Dog Hero.
